Laferriere is a prominent Brantford activist with interests in creating awareness about mental health, employment and poverty issues and the role of local, independent media outlets in small communities.
In addition to coordinating social work practicums at Wilfrid Laurier University’s Brantford campus and teaching in the police foundations program at Mohawk College, Laferriere is co-owner of the Brant Advocate and the NDP’s federal candidate of record for Brant. He is also an active volunteer with the new GenNext Program with The Brant United Way, a director for the upcoming Self-Help Addictions Resource Centre and a former national director of Canada Without Poverty.
